Soprano Anna Netrebko sings the title role of Verdi’s grand masterpiece

Set in ancient Egypt, Verdi's drama Aida brings to life the love triangle between a warrior, an Ethiopian slave and a princess.  Warrior Radamès falls in love with Aida, the Ethiopian slave of Princess Amneris, the king’s daughter. Unbeknownst, the princess has feelings for the warrior. When the three meet, Amneris jealously senses Radames› feelings for Aida.  An opera about imperial duty and forbidden love.

Anna Netrebko sings Aida in the 30th-anniversary performances of Sonja Frisell’s classic staging, going toe-to-toe with Anita Rachvelishvili as Amneris and Aleksandrs Antonenko as Radamès. Nicola Luisotti conducts one of the world’s most popular operas, with its cast of hundreds, spectacular sets and costumes, and brilliant score—including the famous Triumphal March.
