During the 2019–20 season, one of America’s greatest operas returned to the Met stage for the first time in 30 years: The Gershwins’ portrayal of the lives and struggles of a segregated African-American community in Charleston, S. C. James Robinson’s vibrant new production of Porgy and Bess transports audiences to Catfish Row on the Charleston waterfront with vibrant choreography by Tony Award–nominee Camille A. Brown.
